US Markets

Major U.S. stock indexes closed with modest gains on Wednesday after a choppy trading session, with investors holding their cards close to the vest ahead of a presidential debate and an inflation report closely watched by Federal Reserve policy makers, reported Reuters. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ended up by 87.51 points or 0.49% at 17,805.16. The S&P 500 ended higher by 8.60 points or 0.16% at 5,477.90, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended marginally higher by just 15.64 point or 0.04% at 39,127.80.

ASIAN MARKETS

Shares in the Asia-Pacific region are trading in negative territory on Thursday morning. The Asia Dow is trading up by 0.23%, where as the Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading in red, down by 1.07%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index is down by 1.56% and the benchmark Chinese index Shanghai Composite traded lower by 0.70%.

CRUDE

WTI crude prices are trading at $80.89 up by 0.08%, while Brent crude prices are trading at $85.23 up by 0.26%, on Thursday morning.

Dollar

The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the dollar against a basket of six foreign currencies, traded up by 0.26% at 106.05


###COMPANIES###

State Bank of India
On Wednesday, June 26, SBI, the country’s largest bank, announced it had raised Rs 10,000 crore through its fifth infrastructure bond issuance at a coupon rate of 7.36%. The issuance received an overwhelming response, with bids exceeding Rs 19,884 crore, oversubscribing the base issue size of Rs 5,000 crore by nearly four times. A total of 143 bids were received, indicating broad participation and a diverse range of investors.

*IIFL Securities* The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched an investigation into Sanjiv Bhasin, who is associated with IIFL Securities. SEBI officials have reportedly examined Bhasin’s digital devices and collected evidence as part of the probe. The investigation is focused on allegations of market manipulation and front-running against Bhasin.

*Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea* A total of 141.4 MHz of spectrum has been sold for Rs 11,340 crore. Bharti Airtel acquired 97 MHz of spectrum, Reliance Jio acquired 14.4 MHz, and Vodafone Idea acquired 30 MHz.

*RBL Bank* Board of directors meeting is scheduled for June 27, 2024, ahead of the annual general meeting (AGM) on the same day, to discuss raising funds through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP)

*KEC International* The infrastructure company announced that it has secured new orders worth Rs 1,025 crore in its transmission and distribution (T&D) and cables businesses.

*Dr Reddy’s Lab* The Pharma major  announced that its subsidiary, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories SA, has signed a definitive agreement with Haleon plc and its associate companies to acquire their global portfolio of consumer healthcare brands in the Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) category, excluding the United States.

FII & DII

Foreign institutional investors (FII) offloaded shares worth Rs 3535.43 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) mopped shares worth Rs 5103.67 crore on June 26, 2024, according to the provisional data available on the NSE.

f&o ban

The NSE added Indian Cement, GNFC, Indus Tower, Punjab National Bank, and Sail in F&O on June 27, 2024.
